Fascinating to my untutored eye many settings not available in the GUI as I can tell, but there just the same. So, how do I separate the "turn off display after." function from the tablet's sleep function? Did you ever find a solution? Samsung tech support claims it is a Windows 8 issue. In addition, using powercfg.exe to make changes also results in the "display off" and "sleep" times changing in lock step. When I run Power troubleshooter to optimize power consumption, it of course changes my "display off" to a few minutes, but "sleep" changes to the same value at the same time, so it's not just my personal approach to making changes. With many users not recognizing that "display off" means "sleep"? Is this a problem only in some installations of Windows 8, or is it universal, Power Options and changing the respective display and sleep timeouts, with minimal recognition that changing one will change the other whether you want it to or not. I have seen many suggestions for going into I am setting up a Samsung XE500T1C-A02 tablet with Windows 8 to do unattended data logging (taking advantage of the lower power used by the processor in the tablet), and it shows the same problem. I haven't seen a useful reply to this yet.
